Driver Licence and Identity Check Questions

Use a driver licence verification checklist to record identity, validity and vehicle questions. Keep evidence private and discuss your needs with Anjali.

Use the worksheet for your own planning. Keep personal details in your own copy.

A driver licence and identity checklist separates the checks you need from the evidence you have actually seen. Confirm that the person, licence details and intended vehicle match, then resolve gaps before travel. Use official transport channels where appropriate, obtain consent for reference checks and keep sensitive documents out of public or large group chats.

Record an outcome instead of collecting everything

Your aim is to make a sound decision, not to build an unnecessary archive of someone else's documents. Ask who is responsible for each check and whether the provider has completed it. A statement such as “verified” is incomplete without the check type, date, reviewer and any limit on the result. Do not treat a forwarded photograph as independent confirmation.

Reusable verification question sheet

Item Question to ask Record privately
Identity match Does the person presenting the document match it? Reviewer and date
Licence details What is the licence number and issuing authority? Reference held securely
Validity Is the relevant entitlement current for the intended dates? Result and unresolved gap
Vehicle match Is the intended vehicle covered by the licence entitlement? Vehicle and check source
Official check Which official service or authority was used? Method and date
References Has the person agreed to these contacts? Consent and factual response
Agency role Who checked what, and who follows up if details change? Named owner
Storage Who can access the record and when will it be deleted? Access and retention decision

Deal with uncertainty before allocation

If a portal is unavailable or details do not match, mark the item unresolved and ask the relevant authority or provider how to clarify it. Do not guess a licence category from the appearance of a card. Requirements can depend on the vehicle and use; this sheet is a procurement aid, not a transport-law opinion.

The official Sarathi service and mParivahan are useful starting points. Keep a review reminder for dates that may affect a continuing assignment. A check made at the start is not a promise about all future conduct.
