Reusable bags often live beside a Kolkata home's front door until the next market trip. Before washing one, empty it completely, read its care label and separate washable fabric from wipe-only or insulated bags. Clean only by that bag's instructions, dry the base, handles and folds, then return it to the family's agreed shopping place. Treat an unlabelled coated bag as a question for its owner, not as an ordinary cotton garment.
Empty and identify the actual bags
Turn out the pockets and shake loose receipts, vegetable leaves and packaging over an appropriate bin.
